Maserati Marks 100 Years of the Trident with One-Off MCPURA Cielo Tributo 1926

A Fuoriserie creation inspired by the Tipo 26 race car was handed to its owner in Modena as the 2026 Mille Miglia rolled through the city
On 25 April 1926, Alfieri Maserati lined up at the Targa Florio in a car that bore the Trident logo for the very first time. That car was the Tipo 26. Exactly a century later, Maserati is honouring that moment — and that machine — with a bespoke creation built through its Fuoriserie personalisation programme: the MCPURA Cielo Tributo 1926.
The timing and setting of the handover were deliberate. The car was delivered to its owner at the Maserati showroom in Modena on 11 June 2026, the very day the 2026 Mille Miglia passed through the city — a convergence of Maserati’s racing heritage, the legendary road race, and the brand’s most exclusive present-day offering, all in one afternoon.
A Livery Rooted in 1920s Motorsport
The MCPURA Cielo Tributo 1926 is based on the MC20 Cielo spider, and its exterior is built entirely around the visual language of early-era competition cars. The bodywork wears a Grigio Lamiera Matte finish — a shade that deliberately evokes the bare metal aesthetic of 1920s racing machinery — over which a bespoke livery in Rosso Capannelle, Blu Infinito and Bianco Pastello unfolds.
At the centre of the bonnet sits a faithful reproduction of the original Tipo 26 badge, the most direct visual bridge between 1926 and 2026. The historic Trident appears again on the front and B-pillar in Bianco Pastello, alongside the Fuoriserie logo in the same shade. The tonneau cover features a dual Trident graphic — the current logo alongside the first Trident drawn by Mario Maserati in 1926 — rendered in Blu Infinito and white.
The 20-inch Cyclonic wheels are diamond-cut with a red surface finish, complemented by black brake calipers. Visible carbon-fibre inserts from the Exterior Carbon Package complete the look.
One final touch sets the car apart from any other Fuoriserie commission: the door badges carry the signatures of Alfieri Maserati and his mechanic Guerino Bertocchi — the two men who drove the Tipo 26 in that 1926 Targa Florio.
Interior and Equipment
Inside, the open-top cabin stays faithful to the project’s theme. The Trident is stitched onto the headrests, and the cabin features heated seats, the Interior Carbon Package, and a 695-watt, 12-speaker Sonus faber High Premium audio system. Practical additions include a Driver Assistance Pack and front axle lift.
The Fuoriserie Programme
Every car that leaves Maserati Fuoriserie begins with a direct conversation between the customer and the brand’s creative team, covering bodywork, interiors, finishes, and equipment. The MCPURA Cielo Tributo 1926 sits within the wider BOTTEGAFUORISERIE framework, which Maserati describes as a convergence of craftsmanship, technology, and detail-obsessive production.
The Tipo 26’s legacy within the Mille Miglia runs deeper than symbolic: the 1931 Tipo 26 C was the first Maserati to enter the race, taking a class win that remains part of the brand’s recorded history. The MCPURA Cielo Tributo 1926 is one chapter in what Maserati calls the Year of the Trident — a centenary programme of events and initiatives tracing the logo designed by Mario Maserati, who reportedly drew inspiration from the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna, the city where the brand was founded in 1914.
