Nissan Tekton Unveiled: A Patrol-Inspired B+ SUV Built in India for the Middle East

Nissan has pulled the wraps off the all-new Tekton at its world premiere in India, a bold new B+ SUV that will find its way into showrooms across the Middle East and Africa as part of the brand’s expanding regional push.
Made in Chennai, Built for Export
The Tekton is manufactured at Nissan’s Chennai plant in partnership with Renault, and it’s designed under the brand’s “One Car, One World” philosophy. That means the same SUV built for Indian customers is engineered to hold up in export markets too. Nissan says the model will ship to 50 markets across the Middle East and Africa, positioning India as a genuine manufacturing and export hub rather than just a domestic-focused plant.
Thierry Sabbagh, Divisional Vice President and President for Middle East, KSA, India and CIS at Nissan and INFINITI, framed the launch as proof of the brand’s capability to bring global SUV standards to the region, built around what customers here actually expect: strong design, useful tech, and everyday versatility.
Patrol DNA, B+ Segment Pricing
Styling-wise, the Tekton borrows heavily from the Nissan Patrol playbook — a commanding stance, bold proportions and unmistakable Nissan SUV cues, just scaled down into the B+ segment. Under the hood sits a 1.3-litre turbo four-cylinder producing up to 163PS and 280Nm, paired with a wet-clutch 6-speed DCT. Nissan is positioning the powertrain as best-in-segment for output.
What’s Inside
The cabin gets a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control and a digital cockpit setup with connected services. Safety kit includes six airbags, a reinforced body structure, Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Blind Spot Warning — a fairly comprehensive list for a car sitting in the B+ bracket.
The Verdict
On paper, the Tekton looks like a smart play for Nissan in this region. The Patrol-inspired styling gives it instant visual credibility in a market that loves a rugged SUV silhouette, and packing in adaptive cruise, AEB and six airbags at this segment level puts real pressure on rivals from Kia, Hyundai and the usual Chinese challengers who’ve been eating into this space. The bigger story here isn’t really the car itself — it’s Nissan doubling down on India as a manufacturing base for the GCC and Africa, which should mean sharper pricing than anything shipped in from Japan or Europe. Whether the Tekton lands well will come down to real-world pricing once it hits regional dealers, but the spec sheet alone makes this one worth watching.
